Russia's Tatiana Akimova claimed her first-ever IBU World Cup win as she overhauled USA's Susan Dunklee and held off the rest of the field in the women's 7.5km sprint in Nove Mesto.
The 30-year-old Dunklee shot clear to take the lead early on but Akimova matched her in the shoot, before finishing faster on the skis to claim first place in a time of 21.58.9.
Anais Chevalier of France set off later and led after the second shoot but could not match Akimova's pace on the final climb and had to settle for second place behind the Russian, 4.3 seconds back.
Dunklee missed out on her maiden World Cup win but did at least claim a podium place in third, well clear of Laura Dahlmeier and Kaisa Makarainen in fourth and fifth respectively.
