Northern Ireland's Brian Magee was stopped in the 10th round as Lucien Bute retained his IBF super-middleweight title in Montreal.
The Romanian, who is based in the Canadian city, put Magee on the canvas in the sixth and seventh rounds before finally ending the bout at the Bell Centre with an uppercut in round 10.
Victory was Bute's seventh successful defence of the belt he has held since 2007 and took his record to 28-0, 23 of those wins coming via knock-out.
It was just the second time Magee has been unable to last the distance.
Ireland's Willie Casey failed in his bid to wrest the WBA super-bantamweight title from Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux in Dublin.
The challenger was never at the races and was stopped in the first round by the two-times Olympic gold medallist.
Casey was handed a shot at the world title after winning the European title last November, despite having only previously won 11 professional fights.
