South Korean boxer Choi Yo Sam, who lapsed into a coma following his championship winning fight against Heri Amol in Seoul,South Korea on December 25, has been declared brain dead.
The 35, year-old, who retained his WBO Intercontinental flyweight title, was floored with a series of punches in the 12th and final by the Indonesian challenger and collapsed shortly after the contest.
Choi was rushed to hospital but never regained consciousness. According to reports doctors at the hospital where Choi was treated, said he suffered a cerebral Haemorrhage.
As per the wishes of his family, Choi’s life support will be switched off at midnight local time.
