Fury: I won't sign contract unless Haye makes assurances

The two Brits were scheduled to do battle in a much-anticipated fight on pay-per-view this Saturday, only for former world champion Haye to withdraw seven days beforehand due to a deep cut sustained in sparring.

Fury has been outspoken since in his disappointment that Haye would partake in such high-risk training so close to fight night, and says he will only agree to the re-arrangement if Haye accepts full liability in writing should the bout be put off a second time.

"Is David Haye going to stick to his guns and take the fight again, or is he going to take another fight, or fight the winner of Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin?" Fury told Sky Sports News.

"If we do go to fight again - which has been set but no contracts have been signed - I want him to sign a contract stating that if he pulls out, he has to pay for all of my training camps, and there has to be a guarantee on him in the contracts."

It is the second time a planned Haye bout in 2013 has fallen through – he was set to fight Manuel Charr in June but withdrew from that with an injury, too.

Fury says he is not willing to go through all of the preparations for such a huge contest for nothing.

"I'm not going through all of this torture again, of doing weeks and weeks of training and being away from the family for months on end, for it to get to the week of the fight and him pull out," he said.

"I would have fought with two cut eyes, I would have fought with a broken leg. There was nothing that was going to stop me from fighting.

"I had injuries before that fight, you can't go through a 15-week training camp and not expect to get an injury. But I didn't mention them, it's not in my mentality to do that.

"We are messing with an excuse maker and somebody who doesn't really want this fight in my opinion, so I am not going to hold my breath for him taking this fight," he continued.

"I'm not going to stake my life on him getting in the ring on February 8. What's to say he's not going to get another cut or hurt his shoulder or arm or elbow, chip his tooth or hurt his ear."
