The 28-year-old takes on France’s Maily Nicar tomorrow, and victory would make her the just second ever Team GB female boxer to win European gold – following double Olympic champion Nicola Adams in 2011.
Gale did not box until three years ago, when Adams’ brother, Curtis, convinced her to get involved.
Nicar reached the final with a narrow victory against 20-year-old Irish boxer Christina Desmond, winning two rounds to one.
Gale’s victory was the highlight for GB boxers at the championships, although Sandy Ryan and Lisa Whiteside both claimed bronze medals – taking Team GB’s haul to three.
Lightweight Ryan lost a unanimous decision to Finland's Olympic bronze medallist Mira Potkonen, while Whiteside lost her flyweight semi-final to Russia’s Elena Saveleva.
