Helliet show unleashes new Fury

The latest fighting Fury is ready to enter the professional ring. Dempsey Fury will join big brother Phill and cousins Tyson and Hughie in the paid ranks when he makes his debut on promoter Mickey Helliet’s ‘Too Fast Too Furious’ show at the Camden Centre on Friday, September 27.

Real name Hughie, the super-middleweight prospect will take on his middle name to avoid confusion with his cousin. And according to his father and trainer, Dempsey fights like the ferocious slugger he was named after.
Hughie Fury says Dempsey is "a very, very good puncher" and although just 18, he reckons his son is already a ring veteran
"There's a gym in our back garden at the family home in Lancaster and boxing is all Dempsey has ever known," said Hughie.
"By the time he was 13 a lot of moves were coming naturally to him. For an 18 year-old, he is very experienced."
Fury had around 50 amateur bouts in both England and Ireland and although his father says his biggest attributes are his raw aggression and punching power, Dempsey has also shown the ring know how to keep himself safe as a journeyman on the unlicensed circuit.
"He's got everything," said Hughie. "He's a very good puncher, switches stances and is a natural counter puncher. I was a useless boxer, so I don't know how I keep breeding good fighters."
Hughie says he will be "very disappointed" if Dempsey doesn't reach British-title level. He's already keen for fights to be made against unbeatens Frank Buglioni and Anthony Ogogo and says the travelling community will get behind Dempsey.
"All the travellers know he fights for fun and want to see him box," said Hughie, who trained Tyson at the start of his professional career.
"I've had phone calls every day from Lancaster, Luton, Leicester and everywhere. They all know he's hard as concrete and can really fight."
Topping the bill at the Camden Centre, Elliott Matthews and Darren Codona meet for the vacant Southern Area middleweight title. Tickets are available from 07557-958059.
