In the only boxing contest of the evening, which included Kempo kickboxing and MMA, Tyson Fury's highly-rated cousin looked to make an impression. The 6'7" teenager was confident and composed, using his superior reach to land stiff left jabs and control the pace from the opening bell.
As Finfera looked to get on the inside, Hughie began to pick him off, landing lefts and solid rights. A right uppercut wobbled Finfera before a flurry of lefts and rights to the body doubled him over for an eight-count. As Hughie moved in to finish, the bell rang to end the first round.
Another flurry of powerful lefts and rights to the body gave Finfera another eight-count in the second. Hughie, sensing that he could finish, saw Finfera trying to cover up the left side of his body and targeted the area with solid right hands, leaving his opponent on the canvas and him with a third stoppage in four fights.
“I hit him with a shot to the solar-plexus and he bent to the side, so I put two in,” Hughie said.
Hughie was the first ever Irish/British fighter to win a gold medal at the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships at super heavyweight, and now boasts four wins from four contests, with three knockouts.
"I thought it was a good fight, the guy needs a big round of applause because he took some solid body shots," Hughie's older cousin Tyson said.
“He’s got a very long way to go but he’s a rising talent.”
