Groves' win in the semi-final of the World Boxing Super Series means he will take on the winner of Callum Smith v Jurgen Braemer later in the year.
The IBO and WBA super-middleweight champion controlled the match from the off, and saw Eubank Jr endure a cut to the eye after a clash of heads in the third round.
While Eubank Jr struggled to get close to Groves' body to do damage, Groves was able to keep his opponent at bay with a relentless and effective jab.
Groves was clearly ahead after a few rounds, and so Eubank Jr became increasingly desperate to land a KO as the bout wore on. A late flurry of activity was not enough, and Groves took the match by a unanimous points decision.
"I'm very, very happy with the performance. [my shoulder is] very sore, but I wasn't going to let anything beat me tonight," Groves told ITV Box Office.
"It was about who wanted it most. Of course it was. He had success because I did something wrong.
"I'd already hurt him before the cut. He wasn't dabbing [the cut] so I don't think it was obscuring his vision. The better man won, but credit to Junior for getting through the match because I hurt him a lot. He dug it out.
"It's been a long time since I won in front of a big crowd. Obviously, against Carl Froch I didn't win. It's nice to get that justification. So, away we go. Next."
Meanwhile, Eubank Jr believes he did enough to force a rematch:
"I thought it was close, I thought I did enough in the late rounds to win the fight. All credit to George Groves it is all part of boxing. It was a good enough fight to have a rematch.
"I thought I pressured him the entire fight, I was landing shots, he cut me, I couldn't see much in the majority of the fight. A cut is a cut but I kept going, that is what a warrior does. If he doesn't go through to the final I don't know if that means i go through automatically.
"Groves has the heart of a true champion and did what he had to do. I was catching him with a lot of shots and he didn't give up, hopefully we can get a rematch. There are other world titles out there I have proved I'm more than capable of fighting at world level and I'm still going after the people that have the titles."
