Mike Hussey has been named as Australia captain for the forthcoming Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series in New Zealand. Regular skipper Ricky Ponting will miss the three-ODI series in order to rest a back problem ahead of the World Cup, while wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist has also been given a rest.

Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said Ponting's sore back did not threaten his particpation in the World Cup.
"We are advised that for Ricky to arrive at the World Cup in the best possible physical shape, his workload should be managed through this period," Hilditch said.
"It should be noted that there is no question over Ricky's availability for the World Cup."
Hussey - who has has Michael Clark has his vice-captain - captained Australia once before, when he made an unbeaten 109 in a loss to West Indies in Malaysia last year.
