Marcel Kittel pips Caleb Ewan on the line to win in Abu Dhabi

Marcel Kittel won stage two of the Tour of Abu Dhabi, beating Caleb Ewan and Mark Cavendish to the line.

A long and flat stage, featuring many miles on wide motorway sections, exploded into life in the final kilometers as the teams jostled to put their sprinters in a good position.

Mark Cavendish was forced to go on his own early in the finishing straight, fading slightly as he battled alongside Caleb Ewan for top spot.

But neither saw Kittel muscling up on the outside, with Ewan even celebrating as he crossed the line, only to be beaten by the German by half a wheel.

The tour continues on Saturday with Al Maryah Island stage, where another sprint finish is expected.
