Great Britain will be represented by a young team at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Czech Republic after failing to qualify any riders for the Olympic cross-country event in Rio this August.
Grant Ferguson will represent Britain in the elite men's race, but no British rider will compete in the elite women's race at the championships, which take place in Nove Mesto na Morave from June 29 to July 3, British Cycling announced on Tuesday.
There is a slim chance Ferguson may still compete in Rio if the qualified teams do not take up all their places.
Evie Richards, the under-23 cyclo-cross world champion, will race for Britain in the under-23 women's category at the World Championships, while Alice Barnes continues to focus on the road in 2016.
Great Britain team for the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships (June 29 to July 3): Elite Men - Grant Ferguson; Under 23 Men - Iain Paton; Under 23 Women - Evie Richards, Beth Crumpton; Junior Men - Will Gascoyne, Cameron Orr; Junior Women - Sophie Wright, Emily Wadsworth.
