After the first rest day there is change aplenty at the 2023 Giro d'Italia as Geraint Thomas takes on the leader's jersey following Remco Evenepoel's withdrawal. Evenepoel pulled out of the race following a positive Covid-19 test and will not compete on Stage 10, which features early climbs to start. Stage 9 highlights: Evenepoel pips Thomas in thrilling time trial

Stage 10 of the 2023 Giro d'Italia will see Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) start in the leader's jersey following the shock withdrawal of Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step).
Evenepoel was 45 seconds ahead of Thomas after winning Stage 9, but just hours after the stage pulled out following a positive Covid-19 test.
The news shook up the race ahead of the first rest day. When the riders return to the start line it will be Thomas leading the general classification by three seconds from Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma), with Ineos' Tao Geoghegan Hart five seconds off the lead.
None of the trio are likely to be in contention to win Stage 10, which features early climbing and then a long descent and a flat run into the finish.
