Stage 11 of the Giro d'Italia is the longest stage of this year's race, a 219km route from Camaiore to Tortona, and should be a rare one for the sprinters. Geraint Thomas took over the leader's jersey at the race after Remco Evenepoel withdrew and survived his first day in pink on Tuesday. Stage 9 highlights: Evenepoel pips Thomas in thrilling time trial

Stage 11 of the 2023 Giro d'Italia is the longest stage of this year's race, a 219km route from Camaiore to Tortona.
Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) will wear the leader's maglia rosa for a second time following the shock withdrawal of Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) after a positive Covid-19 test. The Welshman survived his first day in pink, a wet and chaotic run to Viareggio on Tuesday, and should find life easier on Wednesday.
Thomas leads the GC ahead of Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) at 2" and Ineos team-mate Tao Geoghegan Hart at 5".
The trio are unlikely to be chasing the win on Stage 11, which features a few climbs but could be one for the sprinters to contest with a long descent into the finish in Tortona. A day for Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan), perhaps?
