Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease A Bike) has been in hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash at the Itzulia Basque Country. The two-time Tour de France champion has released a message after being let out of hospital and has been pictured giving a 'thumbs-up' sign. He will be hoping to be fit for the Tour de France, which starts on June 29.

Visma boss Plugge gives update on Vingegaard and Van Aert

Jonas Vingegaard said it is now “time to fully recover again” after he was released from hospital.
The two-time Tour de France champion suffered a collapsed lung and broke his collarbone following a nasty crash at the Itzulia Basque Country.
He was hospitalised after the incident but has now left to continue his recovery.
His team, Visma-Lease a Bike, released photos of Vingegaard outside the hospital with his right arm in a sling and two fingers still bandaged. With his left hand he is giving a ‘thumbs-up’ sign.
“Hello everyone, it's time for me to leave the hospital," said Vingegaard in the social media post.
"I want to thank all the medical staff for taking so good care of me. And I want to thank everyone for their moral support. I have received lot of messages, presents and drawings. Heartwarming!
“Now it's time to fully recover again. Thumbs up!"
Vingegaard will be hoping he can recover in time for the Tour de France, which starts on June 29.
He has won the last two editions of the race and is set to lead the Visma team if healthy.
Vingegaard is not the only high-profile rider recovering from injury.
His Visma team-mate Wout van Aert broke his collarbone and several ribs after a crash at Dwars door Vlanderen. He has confirmed he will miss the Giro d’Italia.
Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quick Step) also crashed at the Itzulia Basque Country.
He suffered a broken collarbone and shoulder blade, but is hopeful the injury will not keep him out for too long.
“Obviously my plans for the short future will change,” he said on social media.
”But I hope and think my long term goals will not change. Everything should be ok with that."
Bora-Hansgrohe rider Primoz Roglic is also recovering from the injuries he sustained in the crash at the Itzulia Basque Country.
The Giro d’Italia starts on May 4.
