Jerome Cousin wins mind games to secure first World Tour stage win

Jerome Cousin of Direct Energie kept his nerve to beat Nils Politt (Katusha-Alpecin) and win Stage 5 of Paris-Nice.
The pair were the breakaway going into the final stages and with around 1.6km left it was Politt who was the first to attack.
However it proved to be an error as Cousin easily closed the gap and just kept on waiting for his chance.
With a couple of hundred metres left Cousin finally made his move and Politt had nothing left to give as his opponent won his first World Tour stage.
It was a doubly brave move as the peloton, led by Andre Greipel, crossed the line just seconds later.
Race leader Luis Leon Sanchez (Astana Pro Team) maintains his position ahead of Wout Poels (Team Sky) and Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors).
Cousin takes the polka dot jersey for his performance in the mountain stage.
Esteban Chaves (Mitchelton-SCOTT) was involved in a late crash just before the finish line but his team tweeted to confirm that he was able to cross the line and will be assessed by doctors.
