Petacchi out, Zabel in

Milram will be sending Germany's Erik Zabel to Paris-Roubaix on Sunday, but not Italian sprinter Alessandro Petacchi the team announced on Thursday.

The 35-year-old Zabel will captain Milram in a classic, which he has never won.

The German finished third in the race 2000.

Petacchi, third in Wednesday's Gent-Wevelgem, was not expected to race in Sunday's "Queen of Classics," which included 27 cobbled sectors. The Italian is not a strong rider on cobblestones.

His racing programme includes the Tour of Cologne on April 17, the Tour of Basse-Saxony from the 19 to the 23 of April, before the Giro D'Italia starting May 6 at Seraing, Belgium.

Milram's team for Paris-Roubaix: Erik Zabel, Ralf Grabsch, Martin Muller, Enrico Poitschke and Sebastian Stiedler (GER), Simone Cadamuro, Alessandro Cortinovis and Alberto Ongarato (ITA).
