Cunego to lead Lampre

Damiano Cunego and Alessandro Petacchi are the big names on Lampre's nine-man team list for the Tour de France.

CYCLING Italy's Damiano Cunego, who took a two-second win over Australian Cadel Evans in a tight second stage at the Tour of Romandie in Switzerland.

Cunego, winner of the 2004 Giro d'Italia, will be competing in his third Tour de France and looking to improve on a best finish of 11th in the overall standings.

Petacchi, a veteran at 37 years of age, will be looking to supply stage wins for the team, with a total of six stage victories to his name on the Tour de France.

The Italian-based team features five Italian riders, in addition to a Slovenian, Ukrainian, German and a Swiss.
