Tour de France 2023: Record-breaking year for discovery+ and Eurosport coverage

The 2023 Tour de France was won by Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard who retained the yellow jersey following his first win last year. Warner Bros. Discovery’ streaming platforms, including discovery+ and the Eurosport App, were the only places to watch every stage live and uninterrupted across Europe and enjoyed record-breakling numbers across streaming, ad other platforms.

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe has reported record streaming audiences for its coverage of the 2023 Tour de France.
The number of unique video viewers also grew by 12 per cent year-on-year across all platforms.
This increase was driven by discovery+, which observed a 36 per cent increase in viewers enjoying live and on-demand coverage of the Tour de France.
The 110th edition of the Grand Tour was shown live in 10 markets, including Germany and Austria, which streamed every stage of the race for the first time in 2023.
Even more cycling fans engaging with Tour de France content online saw Eurosport.com, Europe’s no.1 digital sports destination, record its best ever edition in terms of video views.
Video consumption rose by almost a half (45% year-on-year) while unique visitors to Eurosport’s local language sites across Europe increased by almost a quarter (23% year-on-year).
Eurosport’s television coverage also grew by 3% year-on-year. The 2023 race was a record edition for viewership on Eurosport in Spain and the second best ever in France following 2022.

Warner Bros. Discovery is currently broadcasting every stage of the Tour de France Femmes across Europe via discovery+ and Eurosport’s channels and platforms.
Following the first three stages, total streaming audiences are up 5% year-on-year, including discovery+ which has increased by 40%, and Eurosport’s television audience reach has risen by 18% compared to the first edition of the race held last year.
