The 2023 Tour of Britain has arrived with Great Britain's Tom Pidcock aiming to do battle with overall favourite Wout van Aert for glory on the eight-stage race. The final stages of last year's event were cancelled after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Tour gets underway in Greater Manchester and finishes in Caerphilly, South Wales where riders will take on the legendary Caerphilly mountain.

The Tour of Britain gets underway on September 3 in Greater Manchester and finishes in Caerphilly, South Wales on September 10.
The final stage will conclude on the Caerphilly Mountain where the peloton will twice face a 1.3km ascent.
This year's edition of the race is the 19th of the modern Tour of Britain. The final three stages of last year's edition were cancelled following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Previous overall winners of the Tour of Britain include Wout van Aert (2021), Mathieu van der Poel (2019), Julian Alaphilippe (2018), Lars Boom (2011 and 2017), Steven Cummings (2016) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (2009 and 2015), Bradley Wiggins (2013), and Dylan van Baarle (2014).

Pidcock 'will try to have fun' ahead of Van Aert battle
Tom Pidcock has battled through a gruelling schedule already this summer, but he says he's got at least one last push in him as the Tour of Britain begins on Sunday.
The 24-year-old is among the leading contenders for the race, which is live on Eurosport and discovery+, but admits he was feeling the strain of a packed 2023 calendar after competing in the Tour de France and the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Pidcock said: "I’m not on top form but I really needed a rest as I went full gas from the Tour [de France] straight to the worlds in Glasgow. But I’m not in a bad place."
Pidcock will be aiming to challenge overall favourite Wout van Aert for glory on the eight-stage race.
The Brit said: "I’ll give it my best. I always want to win but I’ll just try to enjoy riding with my mates and see what we can get out of it.
"I’m sure the atmosphere will be brilliant. It’s always great racing in front of home crowds."
