Finlay Graham wins men's C3 road race at Para-Cycling World Championships as Great Britain medal tally grows

Finlay Graham took first place in the men's C3 road race for hosts Great Britain at the UCI Para-Cycling World Championships on Saturday in Scotland, on another good day for his compatriots. Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl earned bronze in the B class road race, while Archie Atkinson took bronze for GB at the Men’s C4 road race. Sarah Storey took gold in the women's C5 road race.

Finlay Graham won gold for Great Britain at the UCI Para-Cycling World Championships on Saturday.

The Briton secured first place in the Men’s C3 road race, ahead of France’s Thomas Peyroton Dartet in second spot.

Graham has already had a successful time in Glasgow, as earlier in the week he took gold in the men’s C3 individual pursuit in one of the event’s track races.

Great Britain added another medal to the tally with a bronze in the event in Scotland through Benjamin Watson.

In the women’s B class, the Irish pair of Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly won the road race, with silver taken by the Polish duo of Otylia Marczuk and Ewa Bankowska.

Bronze went to Great Britain’s Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl.

There was more success for Britain when Frances Brown pipped two Chinese athletes to gold in the women's C1 road race.

She beat Wangwei Qian and Jiafan Yang to the top spot as they took silver and bronze respectively.

Sarah Storey won yet again, this time in the women's C5 road race, with France's Heidi Gaugain in second and Paula Ossa of Colombia in third.

Earlier in the day, Archie Atkinson took bronze for the hosts in the men’s C4 road race, with Ronan Grimes in second. Frenchman Kevin le Cunff earned his fourth gold medal of the event as he emerged victorious.

The rider from Dunkirk had already won three gold medals, including the time trial and omnium.

Also in Dumfries, William Bjergfelt took gold in the men’s C5 road race, ahead of Ukraine’s Yehor Dementyev in silver and third-placed Italian, Andrea Tarlao.
