Lucrezia Beccari, Matteo Guarise crowned European figure skating pairs champions in Kaunas

The Italian pair overcame short program leaders Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava to take gold on Thursday in Kaunas. The duo finished on 199.19 points following the free skate after placing third in the pairs short program on Wednesday. They pipped Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava to gold after the Georgians skated last and finished on a score of 196.14.

Italy's Beccari and Guarise win figure skating pairs

Lucrezia Beccari and Matteo Guarise were crowned European champions as Italy pulled off a double podium pairs finish at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas.
The duo finished on 199.19 points following the free skate after placing third in the pairs short program on Wednesday.
They pipped Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava to gold after the Georgians skated last and finished on a score of 196.14.
Fellow Italians Rebecca Ghilardi and Filippo Ambrosini, who won silver last year, took bronze after they finished on 195.68 points.
In the women's category, two-time world medallist Loena Hendrickx and compatriot Nina Pinzarrone skated to a one-two Belgian lead.
Hendrickx wowed the crowd, scoring 74.66 to take her into a comfortable lead ahead of Saturday's free skate.
17-year-old Pinzarrone was awarded 69.70 to edge out reigning champion Anastasiia Gubanova, whose clean routine earned her third place with 68.96 points.
Kimmy Repond, who won European bronze last year, fell to eighth on the day while Swiss champion Livia Kaiser scored a personal best of 66.31 to finish just outside of the top three.
