Siao Him Fa praises mental toughness as he claims back-to-back Grand Prix wins

France's Adam Siao Him Fa battled food poisoning and skate issues to win at the Cup of China in Chongqing. The Frenchman moved from second after the short program into first with a personal best free skating score, beating out world champion Shoma Uno of Japan by 18.4 points. European champion Siao Him Fa followed his victory on home ice at last week's Grand Prix de France.

Adam Siao Him Fa put illness behind him to claim back-to-back figure skating Grand Prix titles with victory in the men's event at the Cup of China.
The Frenchman moved from second after the short program into first with a personal best free skating score, beating out world champion Shoma Uno of Japan by 18.4 points.
European champion Siao Him Fa followed his victory on home ice at last week's Grand Prix de France and also secured a place at the Grand Prix final with victory in Chongqing.
He said: "I am really happy about my performance today. This week was really hard, not because of the training, but all around, I had skate issues, food poisoning, it was quite catastrophic but I managed pretty well stayed strong mentally.
"It feels great because it was a goal for this season to qualify for the Grand Prix Final. Last year I missed that opportunity, I feel glad to achieve it this season."
Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan recorded his first-ever podium with bronze after placing third in both elements.
Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier won their second ice dance Grand Prix of the season in a Canadian 1-2.
Gilles and Poirier leapfrogged their compatriots Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha into first, winning gold by just 1.81 points.
Caroline Green and Michael Parsons of the USA completed an all North American podium as they beat out their teammates Eva Pate and Logan Bye.
Canada also tasted victory in the pairs, with Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps finishing 10 points ahead of second-place Rebecca Ghilardi and Filippo Ambrosini of Italy.
Cheng Peng and Lei Wang secured China's only medal of the meet in Chongqing with bronze in the pairs for their first podium of the season.
The women's event was won by Hana Yoshida of Japan as she beat out teammate Rinka Watanabe by just 0.75 points.
Yoshida recovered from third place after the short program to surge to gold as overnight leader Belgium's Loena Hendrickx dropped two places to third.
