Rodi Pak is getting ready for his second season in the FIM Endurance World Championship in the knowledge that he has no shortage of fan support from back home.
The 22-year-old from Turkey has joined Slider Endurance for the upcoming EWC campaign when he will link up with team-mates, Frenchman Charles Cortot, Italy’s Jacopo Cretaro and reserve rider Charles Diller, who is also from France.
Dunlop-equipped Slider Endurance will use the #119 on its Superstock-specification Yamaha YZF - R1 with the team a contender for the FIM Endurance World Cup.
“After my first season in the Endurance World Championship I saw a lot of people in Turkey started to watch my races and support me through my social media,” said Pak. “Being on the podium with them watching me made me really happy.”
Pak continued: “I had a tough but good season in 2022, always in the top six in the races. Being on the FIM Endurance World Cup podium with P3 in the Bol d'Or was an incredible feeling because we were always very close to the podium with our consistent race pace, but with some small issues were costing us time. In the last race of the season we were able to overcome all of this and reach the podium.”
Of his 2023 EWC aims, Pak said: “My first target is to have good connection with the team. Jacopo Cretaro, one of the riders from the team, is a fellow team-mate of mine from the 24H of Barcelona [when we finished second overall], so we know each other and that will be an upside to building a good setting with the bike. It was an unlucky year for us in 2022 but we are much better prepared even with a new line-up of riders. We will be pushing for this and hopefully we can push for a podium at Le Mans.”
The FIM Endurance World Cup takes in the FIM Endurance World Championship’s three Europe-based 24-hours races, the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans from 13-16 April, the 24H SPA EWC Motos from 16-18 June and the Bol d’Or at Circuit Paul Ricard from 14-17 September.
