Mercury Racing steal the limelight

Fany Gastro BMW Motorrad by Mercury Racing have once again shown they are a serious contender at the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring. The Czech team set the quickest lap time in the warm-up, finishing ahead of the the factory teams.
The return of sunshine and a dry track for Saturday morning’s warm-up on the Slovakia Ring enabled the riders to match their performance in previous editions of the race.
Last year, Freddy Foray achieved the fastest race lap, a 2:04.185, for F.C.C. TSR Honda France. The quickest lap in this morning’s warm-up, a 2:04.338, was set by Karel Hanika for Fany Gastro BMW Motorrad by Mercury Racing. The Czech rider, who cut his teeth in Moto3 and Moto2, will be riding with Ondrej Jezek and James Westmoreland. Brno-based Mercury Racing are practically on home ground at the Slovakia Ring. They will start from 6th place on the grid.
The second-fastest team in warm-up, YART Yamaha – who will start from pole and have therefore already scored 5 bonus points – also confirmed their race settings by posting a 2:04.564 lap ahead of F.C.C. TSR Honda France (2nd on the starting grid), Honda Endurance Racing and Wójcik Racing Team.
Team 33 Coyote Louit Moto finished 6th to reaffirm their position as leader in the Superstock class ahead of Junior Team Le Mans Sud Suzuki, GERT56 by GS Yuasa and No Limits Motor Team.
The FIA WTCR / OSCARO drivers will be on the starting grid cheering on the FIM EWC riders to celebrate the first car and bike double-header. Watch the one-off start procedure live on our Facebook page starting at 11am CEST. The 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring will be flagged off at 12 noon.
