The fastest Superstock and 7th past the finish line, Motors Events were given the €5,000 cash prize awarded to the winner of the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy at the 24 Heures Motos. Motors Events bested Moto Ain and Wójcik Racing Team to become the top EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy team.
Having returned to the Superstock class this season, Motors Events hit the ground running. The French team – the 2011 and 2013 winners of the FIM Endurance World Cup for teams in this category – started from 12th on the Le Mans grid and finished 7th overall. James Westmoreland, Johan Nigon and Adrien Ganfornina quickly got the Suzuki #50 into the Top10 to ensure they would secure a Superstock podium. Their EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy win netted them a €5,000 cash prize. Their determined efforts to once again figure among the front-runners after several tough seasons also won Motors Events the Anthony Delhalle EWC Spirit Trophy.
The second Superstock and 9th overall, Moto Ain (Roberto Rolfo, Robin Mulhauser and Stefan Hill) were the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy runners-up. After being forced to withdraw from the Bol d’Or, Moto Ain (Yamaha) tasted podium success once again at Le Mans and received the €4,200 prize awarded to the second-place finisher of the Dunlop Trophy.
Wójcik Racing Team, who won the Dunlop Trophy at the Bol d’Or, once again featured in the leading trio. The Yamaha-mounted Polish team (Marek Szkopek, Gino Rea and Marko Jerman) finished 12th overall at the 24 Heures Motos and won €3,700 worth of EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy prize money.
A dozen other privateer teams using Dunlop tyres received prizes at the 24 Heures Motos, with payments ranging from €3,200 down to €700 for the team ranked 15th in the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy. 17 of the 29 EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy entries featured in the Le Mans rankings.
Renewed for the 4th consecutive season by FIM EWC promoter Eurosport Events, the organizers of individual FIM EWC races, and tyre manufacturer Dunlop, the EWC Dunlop Independent Trophy gives backing to Dunlop-shod privateer teams that do not benefit from direct support from a constructor.
