Yannick Lucot reckons the two-day Pre-Test for the 24 Heures Motos – the opening round of the upcoming FIM Endurance World Championship season – at Le Mans next month was significant in more ways than one.
As well as providing further opportunity for Viltaïs Racing to gain experience with its new-for-2023 Honda CBR1000RR and Pirelli tyres, the running on the Circuit Bugatti “confirmed” the French team’s potential for EWC success.
“The Honda is a bike that proved to be very efficient right away,” Lucot said. “It has power and a sound chassis. The riders like its comfort as well. We are also very happy with our Pirelli tyres, which offer both consistency and performance.
“The private tests we did this winter gave us confidence in our choices, and these tests at Le Mans against the competition have confirmed our potential. I am also very satisfied with the mindset of our team. There is a real communication between all the members, even a fraternity. This is also what makes us keep progressing.”
Florian Alt, Steven Odendaal, James Westmoreland and new signing Leandro Mercado were all in action for the Honda Viltaïs Racing at Le Mans.
The 24 Heures Motos opens the 2023 EWC season from 13-16 April.
