Yoane Wissa was on target as Democratic Republic of Congo were forced to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Zambia in their opening group game at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Leopards dominated the clash throughout, but were left cursing their poor finishing as they were forced to settle for the point. It leaves them two points behind Morocco, who beat Tanzania 3-0 earlier today, in Group F.

A wasteful Democratic Republic of Congo failed to get their Africa Cup of Nations campaign off to a winning start, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Zambia in their opening match in Group F.
The two-time champions, who last lifted the trophy in 1974, were the dominant force throughout, but their 24 shooting opportunities yielded just one goal.
Sebastien Desabre's side, positioned 15 places higher than their opponents in the FIFA world rankings, seized the initiative from the first whistle, with former Chelsea midfielder Gael Kakuta posing a constant threat as he wasted a couple of chances.
That proved costly as Zambia, managed by ex-Chelsea boss Avram Grant, took the lead midway through the first half when Kings Kangwa intelligently converted from 25 yards, taking advantage of Lionel Mpasi being off his line, with the goalkeeper still getting to his feet when a quick throw-in was taken after rushing out of his area to tackle Patson Daka.
Democratic Republic of Congo did not take long to respond, equalising when Brentford striker Yoane Wissa tapped home from close range from Cedric Bakambu's slide pass, before having another effort cleared off the line moments later.
Bakambu then squandered a chance of his own after the break, blazing over the bar from inside the box, before Arthur Masuaku had a shot saved.
That was the first of a string of second half chances for the Leopards, who also thought they had a penalty when Tandi Mwape was penalised for a handball in the area, only for VAR to overturn the decision.
Wissa, Theo Bongonda and Simon Banza were guilty of failing to convert further openings, before Silas Katompa Mvumpa scooped over an empty net in injury time as DRC were forced to settle for a point.
The result means both teams have picked up a point from as many games Group F, which is led by Morocco, who breezed past Tanzania with a 3-0 victory earlier today.
