Who has qualified for Africa Cup of Nations last 16? Who were the best third-place sides? What is the draw?

Who is through to the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations? The 16 sides that have made it to the knockouts were set on Wednesday when the group stage reached its conclusion. There was an added twist with the four best third-place teams qualifying for the knockouts as well, leaving spots up for grabs until the dying minutes.

A thrilling Africa Cup of Nations group stage reached its conclusion on Wednesday as the remaining knockout places were set.
Hosts Ivory Coast, who were thrashed by Equatorial Guinea 4-0 in their final group game, squeezed through to keep their chances of victory on home soil alive.
They were one of the four best third-placed finishers, with Zambia and Ghana the unlucky two to come third in their group but suffer elimination.
Heavyweights Algeria were also sent home in a major shock as the 2019 finalists finished bottom of Group D.
The top two teams from each of the six groups progressed to the last 16 as well as the four best third-placed teams.

How does the third-place ranking work?

With just 24 teams competing at AFCON it is not just the top two from each group who reach the last 16.
As well as the 12 teams that will come from the group winners and group runners-up, there will be four more teams who finished in third.
Given that there six groups it will mean that two teams who finish third will miss out.
