Following the best African Cup of Nations to date, we present our team of the tournament as selected by Eurosport commentator Dave Farrar.

Goalkeeper: Idriss Carlos Kameni (Cameroon)

Africa's best goalkeeper by a mile showed abundant quality and maturity beyond his 23 years.

Right-back: Geremi (Cameroon)

Cameroon's Mr Versatile slotted in at right-back and provided a cultured foil for his more physical team-mates.

Centre-back: Joseph Yobo (Nigeria)

While the Super Eagles struggled up front, Yobo helped ensure a quarter-final berth, keeping things tight at the back.

Centre-back: Hani Said (Egypt)

Thriving back in Egypt after an unsuccessful spell in Europe, Said's defensive solidity and distribution impressed.

Left-back: Arthur Boka (Ivory Coast)

Short with a big left foot, pace and energy - he was always going to be saddled with the 'African Roberto Carlos' tag.

Defensive midfielder: Michael Essien (Ghana)

Added leadership to his all-action style with captain Stephen Appiah out for the tournament.

Defensive midfielder: Alexandre Song (Cameroon)

The hair might be crazy but the playing style most certainly is not. Could have a big future with Arsenal.

Attacking midfielder: Ze Kalanga (Angola)

His marauding performances down the right and supply for Manucho were a key to Angola reaching the last eight.

Attacking midfielder: Mohamed Aboutrika (Egypt - pictured)

Started on the bench following a bout of flu but soon made himself indispensable, scoring the winner in the final.

Striker: Amr Zaki (Egypt)

Scored four goals including two against Ivory Coast in the semi-finals - now has 21 goals from 40 caps.

Striker: Manucho (Angola)

Suprisingly signed by Manchester United in January, but showed Fergie might just be on to something.
