Egypt new-boy and Sunderland target Gedo has emerged from nowhere to arguably set himself up as the find of the tournament.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder came late to the professional game, signing terms with Ittihad Alexandria in 2005, and was a surprise call-up for the tournament after scraping into the 30-man provisional squad and impressing with the winning goal in a pre-tournament friendly against Mali.
That was a long-range effort and he followed it up by cracking in a low drive for Egypt’s third against Nigeria on his competitive debut.
And again he netted from the bench with the best of the lot, a wonderful flick and volley that put the tie against Mozambique to bed.
So who, or what, is a Gedo?
Pronounced 'Gid-do', it is Arabic slang for Granddad, but Mohamed Nagy (as he was named on his birth) is no slouch with two good feet and a sweet left, using both to tee-up and fire his volley.
With good pace and a neat first touch, he seems to prefer to keep his passing short, and is a willing runner, popping up in the middle and on both flanks.
He is not a massive physical presence - he is average height and build and was left in a heap after a high tackle by the frankly enormous Hagi late on - but is resilient and has high energy levels.
It is notable that Gedo came on for the disappointing Shikabala, who was supposed to step up to replace the injured Mohamed Aboutrika but looked out of his depth at this level.
He seems ambitious too - Egyptian giants Al-Ahly have bee sniffing around and are the usual destination for players who impress at other local clubs, but he is apparently holding out for a move to Europe.
Key moments
68' Comes on as a sub for Shikabala.
71' Does well on the left to keep a heavy through-ball in, with a clever touch to kill the ball and good balance to turn back on to it and tee-up a cross for Sayed Moawad.
76' Slips in midfield to give the ball away, but Mozmabique’s counter breaks down.
78' A great run off the ball into space but Hosni Abd-Rabo slips before he can play the through-ball.
81' Scores a wonder goal when, after a slick passing move from Egypt, Ahmed Hassan’s pass is deflected into his path. On the edge of the box and surrounded by defenders, Gedo flicks it up with his right heel and, in one move, turns and volleys with his left, sending it into the roof of the net.
90' Sprints down the left wing but held up by the Mozambique defender, who uses his size to force him out for a goal kick.
90+1' Takes Hagi’s high boot in the back of the head and is carried off dazed for treatment.

OTHER NOTABLE PLAYERS IN ACTION:
Egypt
Shikabala
The Zamalek playmaker was much hyped before the tournament but did little to show his vaunted pace and showed some poor decision making with his passing and shooting. Did force one save from the Mozambique keeper with a smart turn and low shot.
Wael Gomaa
Was brilliant again for Egypt, showing excellent anticipation to snuff out most attempted through-balls and winning all the aerial battles. The veteran almost joined Blackburn a few years back and boy could they do with someone like him right now.
Mozambique
Paito
The Sion defender was Mozambique’s best player, putting in some good balls from the left and saving his side on two or three occasions including one excellent last-gasp block on Mohamed Zidan.
