Chelsea manager Antonio Conte refused to discuss what was said between him and his Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho at full-time following his team's comprehensive 4-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
TV pictures at the end of the game showed Mourinho talking with Conte before storming off down the touchline.
Reports in Italy then surfaced that said that Mourinho had criticised Conte for the way he was celebrating the fourth goal and trying to energise the crowd, saying that it was 'humiliating.'
The United manager would not discuss this moment in his post-match interview and Conte chose to follow a similar path. However the Italian did say that he felt he was correct to try and elicit a response from his supporters.
"Private conversations must remain private, if someone discovers something, OK, but for me the conversation shall remain private." Conte told reporters.
"It was right (for me) to call our fans in a moment when I could only hear Manchester United supporters.
"I called the fans to clap the players after this type of performance because the players after a 4-0 deserve it. It's normal.
"I don't regret my actions, we live on emotion. If we want to cut the emotion I should stay at home and change my job."
Pedro scored for Chelsea after just thirty seconds and Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante all got on the score sheet in what proved to be a memorable afternoon at Stamford Bridge for those in blue.
Conte spoke about how pleased he was with the way his team is playing at the moment.
"I am delighted for the performance because we played very well with good intensity, good positions and we moved the ball very quickly and created many chances to score goals,
"This is the third game we haven't conceded a goal and that is very important. This type of game, against a very strong team like Manchester United, increases our confidence about our work."
Chelsea are now up to fourth in the table and they will face West Ham in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before travelling to Southampton on Sunday.
