Manchester United have made two big additions to their squad on Women's Super League transfer deadline day, following the arrivals of Spanish World Cup winner Irene Guerrero and Gabby George. The latter returns to the club after playing in their centre of excellence. Marc Skinner's side enjoyed their best-ever season in 2022/23 after finishing second in the table.

Manchester United have signed Spain Women’s World Cup winner Irene Guerrero on Women’s Super League transfer deadline day.
The 26-year-old joins Marc Skinner’s side from Atletico Madrid following previous spells with Real Betis and Levante.
Guerrero was an unused substitute in Spain’s 1-0 win over England in the Women’s World Cup final last month.
Skinner told the club website: “Irene is a World Cup winner whose quality is an excellent addition to our team.
“The experience she brings, both domestically and internationally, will be key as we pursue success across the multiple competitions we face this season.
“We are delighted to bring a player of Irene’s stature to Manchester United Women.”
Meanwhile, The Red Devils have also signed Gabby George from Everton for £150,000. She leaves The Toffees after spending nearly 10 years at the club.
George, also 26, became the first female player to sign a professional contract at Everton six years ago and paid tribute to her former club.
"I wouldn't be the player and person I am today if it wasn't for Everton. I will always be incredibly grateful for that," George told Everton’s website. "Everton will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish the club and the outstanding supporters the very best for this season and beyond."
The defender started her career in United’s centre of excellence, and expressed her delight to return to the club she followed growing up.
“As a massive Manchester United fan, I'm buzzing to be here. It's the club I've supported since I was born, and I'm delighted to come back,” she added.
"This club means a lot to me and my family, and it's where we want to be."
Shortly before the 11pm deadline, United announced the signing of Phallon Tullis-Joyce from National Women's Soccer League club OL Reign on a permanent transfer.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper will provide competition for Mary Earps, who will stay with the club until January at the earliest, after being the subject of a world-record offer for a women's goalkeeper from Arsenal last month.
It has been a busy deadline day for The Red Devils, with Martha Thomas heading the other way to join fellow WSL side Tottenham, while Ivana Ferreira has signed for Championship club Birmingham.
Meanwhile, Vilde Boe Risa and Adriana Leon both left the club earlier this week to join Atletico Madrid and Aston Villa respectively.
Skinner’s side begin their WSL campaign away at Villa on October 1, and have lofty ambitions this term after a second-placed finish in 2022/23 to secure Women’s Champions League qualification for the first time.
