Manchester City's unbeaten start to the new Women's Super League season came to an end on Sunday afternoon at Meadow Park as they lost 2-1 to a late goal against Arsenal. Stina Blackstenius scored to snatch all three points late on. Meanwhile, Manchester United preserved their unbeaten record when a Rachel Williams goal secured a point in a 2-2 draw with Brighton.

'An absolute disgrace' - Livid Arteta on controversial Newcastle goal as Arsenal beaten

Stina Blackstenius struck a late winner as Arsenal inflicted a first defeat on Manchester City in the Women’s Super League this term.
The 27-year-old Swede, on as a substitute, took advantage of a mistake from City goalkeeper Khiara Keating to secure a 2-1 victory for the hosts at Meadow Park.
Arsenal had taken the lead on 14 minutes through Steph Catley. Catley scored with a fierce strike after some excellent attacking play from Jonas Eidevall’s team, who have now won three consecutive matches as they start to put together a potentially ominous run of form.
It was almost 2-0 in the first half when Cloe Locasse was fouled in the penalty area by Keating, but the goalkeeper saved from Kim Little, pushing the ball against the post to keep the deficit to a single goal.
City went close in the first 45 minutes, but Lauren Hemp headed against the bar before Amanda Ilestedt scrambled it clear off the line.
The away side continued to press in the second half, but City again hit the woodwork when Khadija Shaw headed against the post from a Hemp assist.
Chloe Kelly then popped up on 72 minutes to fire past Manuela Zinsberger in the Arsenal goal, assisted by Shaw.
Then on 87 minutes, Blackstenius followed a long ball that Keating failed to properly track, and she clipped in the winner.
The win is welcome relief for Eidevall after their early UEFA Champions League elimination in the qualifying stages, and they also lost to Liverpool in their first league match of the season.
City are now in third place on 10 points, while Arsenal now boast the same tally and move up to fourth.
In the evening kick-off, Manchester United preserved their unbeaten Women's Super League record at the death in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Brighton.
A goal each from Elisabeth Terland and Guro Bergsvand looked to have sealed a memorable win, before Rachel Williams ghosted into the box from a corner to level the scores.
The Seagulls rode their luck at times, but broke the deadlock when Terland swept home a clinical close-range finish on the half-hour mark.
Brighton were indebted to goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley for a series of fine saves in the first half to preserve their lead, which they kept until the 78th minute.
Ella Toone unleashed a superb long-range effort past Baggaley for the equaliser, as United finally capitalised on a dominant start after the break.
It was then the turn of Mary Earps for some goalkeeping heroics, as the England shot-stopper made two brilliant saves to deny Julia Zigiotti Olme and Veatriki Sarri.
Bergsvand scored what looked like being the winner for Melissa Phillips's side with a fine header from a corner, but United were not done yet.
Williams managed to escape Terland at the far post from another corner, and sealed a share of the spoils for Marc Skinner's side.
The result leaves United sixth in a congested top end of the table, while Brighton sit ninth after their first draw of the season.
Elsewhere, Liverpool overcame Leicester with a 2-1 win at Prenton Park thanks to Marie Hobinger's 84th-minute winner.
She fired the ball home into the bottom corner after being teed up by Mia Enderby to give all three points to Matt Beard's side.
Melissa Lawley broke the deadlock for The Reds in the 48th minute with a superb strike, before Missy Goodwin equalised for The Foxes with her left-footed strike nine minutes later.
Hobinger then struck late on to seal a third win of the season for Liverpool.
Beard's team are fourth with 10 points, and Leicester are three points and three places further adrift in seventh.
Bristol City claimed their first win of the season after thrilling 3-2 victory away at West Ham.
Viviane Asseyi drew first blood for the hosts after Megan Connolly was penalised for handball, before Amalie Thestrup headed home from a Rachel Furness cross to equalise.
Ella Powell then put The Robins in front after reacting quickest to the loose ball, as Mackenzie Arnold pushed an Amy Rodgers shot into her path.
Riko Ueki struck in first-half stoppage time to restore parity for The Hammers, but Brooke Aspin nodded in a Connolly free-kick to seal all three points.
City are 11th with three points, while The Hammers are three places and one point better off in eighth.
Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton thanks to Aurora Galli's 85th-minute penalty.
The Italian fired her spot-kick beyond Rebecca Spencer to earn Brian Sorensen's side a draw.
Grace Clinton had put Spurs in front from Drew Spence's cross two minutes before the interval, and Toffees goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan made a string of fine saves to keep the deficit at one.
Galli then stepped up to the spot and restored parity, as the north Londoners were left to rue plenty of missed chances.
Spurs are third and three points adrift of league leaders Chelsea with this result, while Everton are 10th on four points.
