Bayer Leverkusen pair Lars Bender and Javier Hernandez pick up injuries

Bayer Leverkusen have suffered a double injury blow ahead of the new Bundesliga season with the news that Lars Bender and Javier Hernandez will be sidelined for at least two weeks.

Midfielder Bender, Leverkusen's captain, suffered an ankle problem during Germany's Olympic final defeat to Brazil in Rio while striker Hernandez fractured his right hand after falling down the stairs in his apartment.

Leverkusen begin their league campaign away at Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
