Fulham may have competition for the signing of USA international defender Oguchi Onyewu. The 24-year-old was in London on Wednesday for talks over a possible £1million move to Craven Cottage from Standard Liege.
However, Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure said Onyewu then left for Italy, where he was to meet with AC Milan officials to discuss a possible transfer to the San Siro.
Onyewu's contract contains a clause which allows the central defender to leave his club if a suitable offer materializes.
Standard are currently in Portugal on a mid-season training camp, with coach Michel Preud'homme admitting the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year was certain to leave the club during January.
"I know nothing about his whereabouts. But I don't think he'll be joining us in training camp," Preud'homme was quoted as saying by Le Soir newspaper.
