Lionel Messi proved just how much power he has at Barcelona after refusing to be substituted in the 3-0 win over Eibar.
Barca coach Luis Enrique attempted to withdraw Messi from the Liga clash with his side three goals to the good and with Messi on the scoresheet.
Signalling to the Argentine, Enrique made it clear that Messi would be rested for the final 15 minutes of the match, only for the forward to gesticulate that he wanted to stay on the field.
The two engaged in a war of hand-waving before Messi turned away his head, walking further up the field and ignoring his boss’ pleas.
Enrique wanted to sub Messi off, but Leo told him he is fine, enjoying the fun hahaha (@Barzaboy) https://t.co/vMBo7PWuHb— Nikobarcenal (@Nikomarvel) October 19, 2014
Barcelona eventually made their substitution, but it was Brazilian forward Neymar that was sacrificed as future star Munir El Haddadi made his way onto the field.
