Southend manager Phil Brown is "close" to penning a new deal at Roots Hall.
The 55-year-old has been attempting to sort out his future for a few months now and has revealed he is on the cusp of penning an extension prior to this weekend's clash with Luton.
"I have a meeting with the chief executive and the chairman (on Monday) and the contract is close to being done now," he told the Southend Echo.
"There are a couple of technicalities we need to go over and sort but it's nothing major and I would expect the deal to be signed before I run the (London) Marathon next weekend which is probably just as well because I might not have the energy to do it after!"
Brown has been with Southend since 2013 after previously managing Derby, Hull and Preston.
