Hoeness mocks friendly

"We can see what’s going on with this match," Hoeness said ahead of Tuesday night's clash in Moenchengladbach. "It has not been organised to test the players but so the DFB can pocket five million euros!

"It is difficult to understand why one would organise a match at such an important time in the Bundesliga season when teams are either playing for the title or to save their own existence."

The outspoken former West Germany midfielder added "a match between Bayern’s A and B teams is more of a test than the match against Australia", who Germany thrashed 4-0 in the group stages of the World Cup last summer.

DFB media manager and former striker Oliver Bierhoff was not impressed.

"These matches allow young players to pick up national team experience," he said.

"The Bundesliga and its clubs are the primary beneficiaries when the squad is maximised."

Hoeness did concede that Germany, who were rank outsiders but reached the semi-finals of the World Cup, are now the favourites alongside Spain for Euro 2012.
