Dimitar Berbatov’s former club Bayer Leverkusen have denied rumours they are looking to bring the Manchester United striker back to the Bundesliga.

Speculation has linked the Bulgarian forward with a return to Germany, with both Bayern Munich and his former side reportedly keen on a deal this January transfer window.
However Leverkusen have distanced themselves from the talk, with club executive Wolfgang Holzhauser telling Express: “I have been reading that Dimitar had flown over to Frankfurt and that we would be in for him there to negotiate a transfer. That was interesting news to me!
“I would clearly never say never, but this is not something we are looking at at this point in time. And from today's point of view I would also say we would also not be after him this coming summer.”
Mirroring Holzhauser’s stance, Berbatov’s agent Emil Danchev told Russian media that an Old Trafford exit was not being sought by the player.
“Usually I don't comment on speculation from the press. They can say whatever they want,” Danchev told Sovetski Sport. “But the only thing that I can say is that at this moment the eventual transfer of Berbatov to another club is not on the agenda.”
