Mueller sends Bayern third

Champions Bayern Munich moved back into third place in the Bundesliga with a 4-1 win over Schalke 04, helped by two goals from Thomas Mueller.

Bayern, who have 59 points, displaced Hanover 96 who lost 1-0 at home to relegation-threatened Borussia Moenchengladbach, Third spot earns a place in the Champions League qualifying round.
Dutch winger Arjen Robben, returning from suspension, gave Bayern a sixth-minute lead and although Holger Badstuber put through his own goal to level two minutes later, Mueller and Mario Gomez put Bayern 3-1 ahead by the 20th minute.
Mueller added the fourth late in the second half to complete a miserable week for Schalke -- Dortmund's bitter rivals -- after their 2-0 home defeat to Manchester United in their Champions League semi-final first leg.
Gomez, the championship's leading scorer, took his tally to 24.
