"We are very pleased to announce the contract renewal with Marco Reus", chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke told the club’s website.
The 28-year-old joined Dortmund from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2012 for a deal worth €17 million and has since scored 92 goals in 194 games.
“Dortmund is my home, BVB is my club,” Reus said.
“Since childhood I have dreamed of running around in black and yellow and playing for this club. With deepest conviction I would like to set a clear signal for the future with this signature."
Reus, who only recently returned after an eight-month injury break, is battling to nail down a spot for Germany's World Cup squad after missing the previous edition through injury in the final warm-up game.
The German international’s contract was due to expire in 2019.
Dortmund are battling for a Champions League spot next season, sitting in third place in the Bundesliga, a point behind second-placed Schalke 04
