Yann Sommer is Bayern Munich's newest signing. The keeper comes from Borussia Monchengladbach in an €8m deal following the leg injury to Manuel Neuer, Bayern's current number one, that will keep him out for the rest of the season. Sommer, who has already begun training with his new club, has been replaced by Jonas Omlin at Gladbach, who joins from Ligue 1 side Montpellier.

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of 34-year-old Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Sommer has agreed to a contract that will keep him at the club until 2025.
The signing does not come as a surprise, given that Manuel Neuer, Bayern's current number one keeper, is out for the season. The German broke his right leg on a skiing trip in December after the World Cup.
“I’m very excited about the new challenge at FC Bayern," said Sommer upon his signing.
"It’s a big, powerful club. We’ve played against each other many times – I know the enormous quality and aura of this club. I’m proud that I’m now a part of FC Bayern. We have some big challenges ahead of us. I’m hugely looking forward to starting here with my new teammates, and to everything that is to come.
"I want to thank Borussia Mönchengladbach for eight and a half wonderful years and for enabling this transfer.”
Oliver Kahn, Bayern's CEO said: “Yann Sommer is a valuable addition for us, because he has a wealth of international experience and has already played in the Bundesliga for many years. He has everything required to contribute immediately to our success. We’re certain we can achieve our goals with Yann Sommer.”
Sommer arrived to the Bundesliga from Basel in 2014 and made 335 appearances in all competitions for Gladbach.
He made his international debut for Switzerland in 2012, and is the country’s most-capped goalkeeper with 80 appearances, playing in three World Cups and two European Championships.
“Yann came to us with the request to move to FC Bayern,” said Borussia’s sporting director Roland Virkus in the club's announcement of his departure.
“Because of how much this club owes him, we explored the possibility of meeting his wishes, which we have been able to do for an acceptable fee and under the condition that we find an adequate replacement for him immediately. We would like to thank Yann for his incredible performances for Borussia and for eight and a half years of absolute professionalism, and wish him all the best for the future.”
Gladbach also confirmed the signing of their new number one, bringing in Swiss goalkeeper Jonas Omlin from Montpellier.
Omlin's contract runs until 2027 and according to Virkus, the club believes that "he is a very reliable goalkeeper who exudes confidence, is strong on his line and is good with the ball at his feet."
Omlin joined Montpellier in 2020, making 31 Ligue 1 appearances in his debut season. In the following campaign, the goalkeeper played 29 league games, keeping nine clean sheets. This season, he has 14 caps for the French side and has kept three clean sheets.
