Bayern Munich 7-0 Bochum: Harry Kane hits first hat-trick for Bundesliga giants in rout at Allianz Arena

Harry Kane scored a hat-trick and set up two more as Bayern Munich romped to a 7-0 victory over VfL Bochum.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting opened the scoring after four minutes, tapping home when Kingsley Coman got behind the defence and crossed low for him at the far post.

Kane hardly touched the ball early on but his first meaningful contribution saw him drive home after the ball fell to him after Alphonso Davies dribbled into the box.

Matthijs de Ligt made it three, heading home a corner, and then Leroy Sane latched onto a ball from Kane to score before half-time.

Kane made it five from the penalty spot before he intercepted the ball in midfield and then set up substitute Mathys Tel to get on the scoresheet.

The England captain secured his treble and his seventh in five Bundesliga games when he diverted Noussair Mazraoui's cross into the net from close range with two minutes remaining.

The win sees Bayern go back to the top of the Bundesliga. Bochum remain winless after five games.

It is unlikely he will be able to emulate the partnership he had with Son Heung-Min at Tottenham, but there are certainly exciting potential partnerships for him. For much of the season he has played slightly further forward than he did for Spurs, but in this game we saw things could be even more fruitful if he reverts to a slightly deeper position. Choupo-Moting still looks well capable of leading the line and benefiting from the extra attention defenders will pay to Kane. Only a fine stop from Manuel Riemann denied the Cameroon striker a second goal when Kane played him through on goal. As effective as these two may be, it could be usurped with a combination with Mathys Tel if the young striker takes a leap forward this season. His pace presents a great target for Kane's creativity. With so many forward options, it is more likely Kane will be the spearhead in the big games, but what riches Thomas Tuchel has to play with.

He will come up against much sterner opposition in the Bundesliga, but Kane and Bayern already looks like being a very happy partnership. There has been no bedding-in phase for the England captain and he already is dovetailing perfectly with the skillful wingers at the club. The assists he got in the game will have pleased Tuchel even more than the three goals and you get the feeling it will not be the only matchball he picks up this season.

4' GOAL FOR BAYERN! Choupo-Moting taps in from close range after Coman is found behind the defence on the left by Kimmich and the Frenchman then lays the ball on a plate for the former Stoke man at the back post.

12' GOAL FOR BAYERN! He hardly had a touch until now but with one chance Kane is on the scoreline. A fabulous turn and run from Davies saw him move into the penalty area before the ball was lost, but squirmed to Kane in the right-hand side of the area and he drove the ball low inside the corner.

29' GOAL FOR BAYERN! De Ligt heads home his first goal of the season. He times his jump perfectly to meet the corner and power a header leaving Riemann with no chance.

38' GOAL FOR BAYERN! Sane finishes coolly but once more a fantastic ball from Kane dropping inside his own half before playing a long pass through the middle for the winger drifting in from the right flank.

51' PENALTY FOR BAYERN! Unlucky for Bochum there. Ordets gave the ball away and then as Choupo-Moting was through on goal his shot ricocheted up off a leg and then struck the Bochum centre back's hand, stopping a goal.

54' GOAL FOR BAYERN! Kane sends the 'keeper the wrong way from the spot.

58' COMAN CUTS IN ON HIS RIGHT FOOT! And his curling effort clips the outside of the post.

81' GOAL FOR BAYERN! Kane intercepts the ball in midfield then brings the ball forward before feeding Tel who turns inside and fires home.

88' GOAL FOR BAYERN! Mazraoui crossed for Kane to tap home and make it seven for Bayern.
