Harry Kane moved to Bayern Munich to win trophies – but that dream is in jeopardy, at least in his first season, after the champions slipped seven points off the Bundesliga summit with a 1-0 defeat at home to Werder Bremen. Mitchell Weiser scored the only goal of the game.

Bayern Munich arrived back from the winter break with a case of the blues as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Werder Bremen.
The visitors thought they had opened the scoring midway through the first period as Justin Njinmah raced through one on one after a quick turnover. However, after a VAR review goal was disallowed for a foul in the build-up and Bayern could count themselves lucky.
A frustrating first half ended level as Bayern struggled to find their rhythm and create any real opportunities.
After the break the game continued in a similar fashion as Bayern dominated the ball but looked toothless in front of goal. The hosts were left stunned when, against the run of play, Mitchell Weiser found an opening in the box and smashed the ball into the roof of the net to give Bremen the lead.
Tuchel turned to his substitute bench to save Bayern, but it made little impact as Bremen defended resolutely. Beyond a few Harry Kane half chances and great saves from Michael Zetterer, Bayern lacked any sort of bite and the game slipped out of their reach.
The 32-time winners now find themselves seven points adrift of Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen, while the three points takes Bremen up to 20, nine clear of the relegation places.
More to follow.

- Talking Point – Leverkusen’s to Lose?

Following this result the Bundesliga champions now find themselves seven points behind Xabi Alonso’s rampant Leverkusen, albeit with a game in hand.
Bayern Munich looked timid and toothless this afternoon and far from league champions. Despite the rumours of additional signings, it will take a significant, although not impossible for Bayern, effort to turn this title race around. With every passing week and every passing win for Leverkusen it is slowly beginning to feel like it could finally be their year.

- Player of the Match – Michael Zetterer (Werder Bremen)

The award could’ve to any of Bremen’s back line who nullified and stood firm against Bayern’s world class attack. However, the goalkeeper pulled off some fantastic late saves to maintain his clean sheet and commanding his area aggressively. It truly seemed to be Bremen’s day when Zetterer managed to palm a bullet header from Mathys Tel onto the post in the dying stages. A well earnt win and clean sheet.
