We have a title race in the Bundesliga in the 2022/23 season, with Bayern Munich facing a stiff challenge from Borussia Dortmund. Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern were thumped in midweek by Manchester City in the Champions League, and they stuttered again at the Allianz Arena as Hoffenheim rallied from a goal down to claim a point and open the door for Dortmund.

'We constantly talk about things we can't have' - Klopp amid Bellingham links

Bayern Munich dropped points in the title race, drawing 1-1 with TSG Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich started the match well, dominating possession but struggled to create any clear-cut chances.
The Bavarians took the lead in the 17th minute through Benjamin Pavard after the full-back got onto the end of Kingsley Coman’s shot and turned the ball in from close range.
Bayern didn’t create much after the goal and Hoffenheim were able to get back into the game towards the end of the first half but also failed to create any big chances for themselves before the break.
Despite taking the lead Bayern looked a bit off the pace compared to their normal selves.
The second half started quickly with Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane both having good chances in the first five minutes.
After Bayern’s early wave of pressure in the second half, Hoffenheim got onto the ball more and moved it around well, causing problems for the home side.
Thomas Tuchel reacted with an attacking triple change in the 60th minute - bringing on Mathys Tel, Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies as his side looked to add a second.
Hoffenheim would get the goal they deserved in the 71st minute when Andrej Kramaric netted direct from a free-kick.
Bayern thought they had equalised straight away through Pavard again but the goal was ruled out by VAR for offside.
There were ample opportunities for Bayern to secure the win towards the end of the game but they failed capitalise and had to settle for a draw.

Talking point – Bayern’s struggles continue under Tuchel

After a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday, eyes were on Bayern to see how they would bounce back under new manager Thomas Tuchel. The Bavarians did not play up to their normal standard and suffered another disappointing result.
Bayern will need to play much better than they have been in recent weeks if they are to stand any chance of turning around their three-goal deficit when they face City again at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. The timing of the Julian Naglesmann sacking does not seem to have paid off thus far with performances not improving.

Player of the Match – Joshua Kimmich

Bayern may have struggled to put their chances away but Joshua Kimmich showed that he was more than capable of creating them. The Germany international created five chances in the match, the most of any player on the pitch. Kimmich also had 91% pass accuracy and helped his side control the game. His set-piece delivery caused Hoffenheim problems throughout the match as Kimmich consistently provided quality into the opposition box.
