Wenger charged by UEFA

Wenger accused Slovenian official Damir Skomina of awarding Milan too many free-kicks during the victory, which was ultimately in vain as the Italian side went through 4-3 on aggregate.

"I was not happy with the referee because I felt he gave many free-kicks in the middle of the park," he said after the match.

"Every time (a Milan player) went down a free-kick was given for them, and they sensed that very quickly and they used it very well."

UEFA has not set a date for the hearing, but the next disciplinary panel convenes on March 29.

The Frenchman is now facing his third UEFA touchline ban this year.

He was first suspended last season for comments made to the referee during the Champions League aggregate defeat to Barcelona.

At the start of this season that one-match ban was extended by two further games after Wenger was found to have breached the terms of his original suspension for communicating with his players during the first leg of their Champions League play-off against Udinese.
