Bayern Munich broke a European record with a resounding 7-1 win away to Champions League group E rivals Roma.
Pep Guardiola's side recorded their heaviest away win in European competition by subjecting Roma - a side sitting second top of Serie A - to their biggest loss equalling the Italian team's 7-1 stuffing at Manchester United in the 2007 Champions League quarter-finals.
Rudi Garcia's Roma side were lucky to get out of their home stadium having shiipped only seven goals such was the gulf in class between the two sides.
Bayern moved 5-0 clear at half-time courtesy of some sublime finishing with a brace from Arjen Robben, and goals from Mario Goetze, Robert Lewandowski and a Thomas Mueller penalty silencing the home fans.
The impressive Gervinho scored a header for Roma on 66 minutes, but Bayern finished the night on a high as substitutes Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri completed a famous win for Bayern, who look in good shape to claim a sixth Champions League trophy.
They are top of Group E with nine points from three matches knowing one more win against Roma at home in a fortnight will seal their place in the knock-out phase.

KEY MOMENTS
8' GOAL! Robben with the finish. Superb swerving effort leaves De Sanctis with no chance. Cole also left for dead.
23' GOAL! Gotze slides the ball into the net from the little Mueller flick, and that is a 2-0 lead for Bayern Munich.
25' GOAL! Lewandowski rises to head home from the Bernat cross. And that is 3-0 after only 25 minutes. Bayern Munich really ripping Roma apart.
30' GOAL! Robben dashes onto the pass from Lewandowski before smashing the shot through De Sanctis and into the net. 4-0 now.
35' PENALTY! Bernat's cross hits the hands of Manolas after he was lying on the deck. Mueller is going to take this.
36' GOAL! Mueller slides the penalty to the left of De Sanctis. Waited, and waited....before planting it the left of the goalkeeper. 5-0 now.
66' GOAL! Nainggolan with the cross, and an easy header from Gervinho to make it 1-5. Fine goal from Roma's best player of the night.
78' GOAL! Ribery slots the ball over De Sanctis from the Robben pass, and that is 6-1. Roma undone again.
80' GOAL! And in goes the seventh goal as Shaqiri benefits from some awful Roma defending to round De Santcis and net. 7-1.

TALKING POINT
Will Bayern win the Champions League? Hard to see who is going to to stop them. Apart from Real Madrid. But we knew that last year. Something suggests they won't roll over and have their tummy tickled if they come across Madrid in the last four this season. But maybe they will seal their latest get-together for the final.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich): So many impressive performers for Bayern Munich, but nobody is better than their captain who has formed one of the most formidable central midfield combinations in Europe alongside Xabi Alonso.
