Saul Niguez’s solo goal gave Atletico a first half advantage that persisted until the final whistle, with Diego Simeone’s men going to Germany next week with one foot in the final in Milan next month.
“The game was good but we went wrong. In fact, the goal is a result of our low tone. We knew they are very intense here. The ball movement wasn’t good because the pitch didn’t help. We created chances. They have the virtue of scoring without doing a lot,” Guardiola said, AS reports.
“We have Munich left but we will try to do differently than against Madrid [in a previous semi-final], that we wanted to settle quickly and it was over inside half-an-hour.
“Saul’s goal was fantastic but it was because of our low tone. There’s a lot of merit to him, but also a lot of demerit to us. [In the second half] I’m very happy with how we played, because we created a lot of chances. We know it will be very difficult and we have to find alternatives on a football and mental level.”
