Neymar slams rift reports, but Edinson Cavani issues PSG warning

Neymar has hit out at media “inventions” following reports of his conflict with Edinson Cavani, but his Paris Saint-Germain colleague has warned the team they need to work together as “a family” if they are to be successful this season.

The build-up to PSG’s 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night was dominated by the recent issues between the two star forwards, who had been involved in rows on the pitch over who would have responsibility for set-pieces.
It was also reported that Neymar had , with Dani Alves said to have hosted a dinner for the team in an effort to smooth things over.
But speaking after he and Cavani both scored against Bayern, Neymar took issue with the reporting over tensions between the two players.
“They invent lots of stories, they talk too much,” Neymar said.
They say things they do not know, try to get into our locker room and end up talking too much, things that do not exist. But anyway, it’s OK.
However, Cavani also spoke to the media after the game and appeared to indicate that PSG do have to be careful to maintain squad unity if they are to win trophies this season.
“We are all different, we might all have different ways of living and seeing things,” he said. “But when we are on the pitch, we have to all work together as if we're a family to go towards the same objective, which is for the team to win."
