Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has said that forward Mohamed Salah is the best player in the world at the moment.
Salah scored twice and assisted two more during Liverpool's 5-2 victory over Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at Anfield on Tuesday.
He took his tally to the season to 43 goals in all competitions and speaking after the game Gerrard was full of praise.
“He’s in the form of his life," Gerrard told BT Sport.
"It’s difficult to compare him to your Ronaldos and your Messis because they’ve done it for so long and they’ve been consistent year in year out.
"But without a shadow of a doubt, he's the best player on the planet right now."
Salah, 25, was recently named as the PFA Player of the Year for his exploits this season.
The Egyptian became the first player from his country to win the award and on Tuesday he became the first African player to score 10 or more Champions League/European Cup goals in a single season.
